Ellie Greenwich, the songwriter behind numerous 1960s hits including "Da Doo Ron Ron," "Chapel of Love" and "Be My Baby," passed away early this morning (Wednesday) of a heart attack, according to a close family member and reports from the LATimes. her niece, Jessica Weiner. She was only 68 years old.
She worked closely with the now convicted murderer Phil Spector and produced a string of 60s hits that will remain a key part of American music history.
